Lash Extensions last for a few weeks before requiring a touch up where some lashes may have fallen out due to natural lash shedding. Your natural lashes each have about a 2-3 month life span. Once your natural lash falls out, the lash extension attached to it falls out with it, so the fullness of the overall look slowly starts to decrease.
**A lash re-fill is recommended every 2-3 weeks to maintain a clean, fresh look.
Individual lashes are made of synthetic material that imitate natural eyelashes with a slight curl. They are adhered one by one to each natural lash.
Most people don't realize when their eyelashes naturally shed because they are so small and fine. It is also easier to notice long, thick and black extensions than fine natural lashes that shed.
Because of the lash growth cycle, new eyelashes are always growing in. This is the reason why a fill is recommended every 2-3 weeks. If new lashes weren't growing in, there would be nothing to fill.
As long as a properly trained lash artist is applying the extensions, they should not hurt.
The cause of pain or discomfort is usually due to an improperly trained artist applying them incorrectly or an allergic reaction to the adhesive.
Jenibrows utilizes a top shelf adhesive designed for the most sensitive eyes. Although allergic reactions are rare, there is no guarantee how your eyes will react.
A lash artist must be trained and certified through a reputable company. This makes all the difference when choosing who to trust with your eyes:)
Lash Extensions Aftercare
WASHING LASHES DAILY
Natural lashes trap oils, dirt, debris and old skin cells. If this does not get washed off daily, it will literally SUFFOCATE your lashes and cause them to FALL OUT. It can also lead to something more serious like lash mites.
Washing Tips:
Wash your hands before cleaning your lashes.
Wash your lashes over the sink vs the shower (it will allow you to control water pressure on the eyes)
Dispense a small pump of oil-free foam cleanser onto your hand and dip your clean cleansing brush into the foam a few times and proceed to cleanse eyelids and lashes in a circular motion. Rinse thoroughly. Never comb your lashes when wet. Pat dry and comb with your spoolie to fluff them out again!
DON'T PICK OR PULL
This will result in damage of your natural lash. Also, our skin produces oil and our fingers should stay away from touching the extensions, otherwise, the oils will weaken the bond.
AVOID STRONG HEAT SOURCE
BBQ's, hair dryers, ovens, campfires, cigarettes, etc. Volume lashes are susceptible to melting since they are ultra-fine and will also loose their curl resulting in straighter lashes.
OILY SKIN
Sweat contains salt and oils. It will breakdown the adhesive faster. KEEP THIS IN MIND IF YOU WORKOUT DAILY (WASH LASHES DAILY). Some people are prone to oily skin or may have oily lashes which will result in poor retention if daily washing is not a priority. If overly oily skin is causing on-going poor retention, you are not considered and ideal candidate for lash extensions.** Ocean water and pools will do the same. Your best option is to rinse and wash your lashes right after.
NO OILS
Oils break down the adhesive, if the bond is weak, you'll loose your lashes. Choose an oil-free lash cleanser and face cleansers. AVOID PENCIL EYELINERS, GELS AND CREAMS.
TEARS
Tears contain salt and oils. If you find yourself in a situation where tears are flowing like a river, you will most likely loose most of your lashes. A new set will be required.
SETTING SPRAYS AND HAIR SPRAYS
This will also break down the adhesive. These products will cause your volume fans to close as well. If you plan to use them, COVER YOUR LASHES.
COMBING LASHES
Combing your lashes will stimulate hair growth and keep them looking fabulous. It is an extremely important part of upkeep.
HUMIDITY
This is harder to control. If you plan on going on vacation where the humidity level is high, be prepared to loose lashes prematurely. NO SAUNAS.
NO MASCARA!
MASCARA IS ALL OIL.
SLEEPING POSITION
Try not to sleep on your face. And if possible try not to sleep on your side. This can be hard to control, but it can be possible.
STRIP LASHES
These should never be applied on top of your extensions. it will ruin your set and the sticky glue is hard to remove. A new full set price may be required if this happens.
SPRAY TANS
Wait 24 hours before or after lash application.
Lash Extensions Policy
Lashes must be washed daily to achieve best retention results and prevent damage to natural lashes. Please arrive with clean lashes the day of your appointment. Extensions will not adhere to dirty lashes. Wash the area around your eyes; eyelids and under eyes. A second cleanse will be rendered in the salon to ensure nothing was missed.
Guest Fills: Jenibrows will consider infills rendered by another lash artist (a.k.a foreign fills). However, please keep in mind, each lash salon is different. From the quality of materials used to the abilities and skills of each artist. One of the main struggles we come across is poor isolation, too much glue, incorrect weight of extension used, which in most cases, will cause poor retention and damage to natural lashes. For this reason, working over another lash artist's work can take much longer and most times may require full removal of lash extensions. The cost of an infill from another salon starts at $150 but an additional upcharge will be applied if lash extensions are in poor condition. In most cases, a full removal may be required.
Lash extensions need consistent upkeep in order to maintain healthy, natural lashes. Scheduling your refill between a 2-3 week time span will preserve your natural lash line and keep your look uniform.
Jenibrows does not offer fills over 3 weeks. As soon as a lash grows over 2mm long, it must be removed. Lash growth varies on everyone since we all have different metabolisms and hormone changes. It is also very common for some clients to see more growth during the summer season. In summertime our body temperature rises, stimulating our hair to grow and shed faster. It is typical for some clients to see a 2mm growth after 2-3 weeks. Therefore; removal is necessary otherwise the weight of the overgrown lash will cause it to twist and turn, which can cause discomfort, and may cause damage to the natural lash.
*** Any fills scheduled after 3 weeks will be charged a full set price
***Please note: Clients with oily skin or overly oily lashes will loose their extensions faster (hence it is important to wash daily) and will require more frequent fills.
If any guest arrives with less than 50% of their lashes (even if it's only on one eye) a full set price will be applied.
Please take care of your investment by strictly following all aftercare instructions.
A credit card is required to reserve an appointment.
Cancellation Policy
* Cancellations must be rendered by calling the salon
Jenibrows appreciates your business and your appointment is very important to us. We reserve each appointment time according to the type of service requested from you. While we understand availability changes due to special circumstances, we require that you give at least 24 hour notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an existing appointment. Less than 24 hour notice will result in a charge equal to 50% of the service amount to the credit card on file.
**No Exceptions: If an appointment is cancelled the same day or guest does not show up, 100% of the service will be charged to the credit card on file.
If the credit card on file is invalid, full payment of the balance owed is required before scheduling next appointment.
Mega Volume Cancellations:
Cancellations must be made 48 hours prior to scheduled appointment. Less than 48 hours notice will be charged 50% of service amount. Same day cancellations or NO SHOWS will be charged full service amount to credit card on file.
Preferred Payment options:
Venmo, Zelle, Paypal
** A 3% credit card fee will be applied to service amount if "preferred" payment is not an option
